Job Summary
Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the CRNBC Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
Graduate of a recognized nursing program.
Current and active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) required.
Up to two years' recent related experience depending on clinical setting.
2 years’ Medical/Surgical experience required, including one year ICU/CVU or equivalent Critical Care experience within the last 3 years and/or successful completion of Level One theory and clinical course of a recognized post graduate course in Critical Care Nursing.
Successful completion (75% grade or better) of the VIHA ECG Challenge Exam required.
Demonstrated ability to provide nursing care to, or understanding and knowledge of patients requiring mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring and vasoactive medications.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents and families.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
