
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Unit Manager or designate and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and performs nursing procedures. Performs a variety of orthopaedic technician functions such as applying and removing casts and splints and setting up, monitoring, and adjusting traction equipment as directed by the physician. The Orthopaedic LPN operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia, and according to agency operating policies and standards and unit specific protocols.

Shift/Hours of Work 7.5 hour day shifts, 0830-1630; weekends & stats off

Salary Range $22.94 hourly

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience
Graduate of a recognized practical nursing program or equivalent.
Current full practicing licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC) required.
Graduation from a recognized program in Orthopaedic Technology, current registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technicians plus two years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Ability to organize work and implement a plan of care.
Knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice as currently required by the CLPNBC, including administering medications.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
